Do I need to be 18
years old to register and vote?
You can register before your 18th birthday and the
Election Office will hold your registration until your birthday. You must
be 18 years old on election day to vote.
How can I be sure I won't
have any problems when I go to my polling place?
Everyone is welcome to call the Election Office
(559.733.6275) and check if you are registered to vote. The staff will also
look up your polling site. Polling site information can be found on the Election
Home
page or by going to the current election page on the web site.
How can I
volunteer on
Election Day?
Please give the Election Office (559.733.6275) a
call or check this web site for more information on
Pollworker. The Election Office
is also introducing a new
Student Pollworker
program for seniors in High School.
How quickly will the
ballots be counted?
Polling sites and some absentee information will be
available on election night. The final results may take as long as 28
days. See the
Results section of
this web site for more information.
I moved and changed my
address at the DMV. Will the Election Department have my new address?
It is best to re-register with the Election Office
when you move or change your name. The office does not always get the
information from the DMV. Please call our office (559.733.6275) and we can
check your address for you. Or, if you would like to complete a
registration card on line

What is a
"Permanent
Vote by Mail (Absentee)" and how do I get an application?
A voter who requests to become a permanent Vote
by Mail voter (formerly called absentee) will automatically receive a
Vote by Mail ballot in the mail for every election in
which they are entitled to vote. For an application call the Election
Office (559.733.6275). For more information, or to down load an application

What if I get to the
polls and my name is not on the list of voters?
If, for some reason your name does not appear on the
list of voters when you go to the polls, you can always vote a provisional
ballot. Just ask an Election Officer at the poll site to assist you.
If for any reason you are unable to vote at a poll site, please call the
Elections Office immediately (559.733.6275) and we will assist you.
What is "Help America
Vote"?
Help America Vote Act (HAVA) is a Federal Law to
assist voters. For more information about HAVA,

When is the last day
to register?
You can register to vote up to 15 days before an
election. For the last day to register for the current election, go to the
Home page of this web site and click on the current

When do

re-register?
Voters will need to re-register if they have moved,
changed their name or are a first time voter in the county. To register on

When is the last day
to get a Vote by Mail (Absentee) ballot by mail?
Voters can request a Vote by Mail (formerly
called absentee) ballot to be mailed
to them up to 7 days before an election. During the last week before an
election, Vote by Mail ballots are issued only at the Election Office. For the
last day to request an absentee ballot for the current election go to the

page of this web site and click on the current
election button. You can also down load an application for an absentee
ballot, this is available on the current election page.
